THE ARTISAN SOUL
Crafting Your Life into a Work of Art
This Fall we are launching into a new sermon series based upon a new book by Erwin Mcmanus and Gateway's first three CORE VALUES. We believe that we all carry within us the essence of an artist. We need to create, to be a part of a process that brings something good and beautiful and true into the world. God himself is the master artisan and is patiently, meticulously crafting us into something truly beautiful in order to bring His beauty into the world.
9/7 Beauty He who is the Creator God is the creative God, and he created us in his image and likeness. He created us with imagination and curiosity, with the capacity to hope and dream, and he placed within us the capacity to live an extraordinarily creative life.
9/14 Imagination We were created to materialize what arises first only in our imagination, expressing the vision of new creation and unleashing the creativity inside the human spirit to change the world.
9/21 Worship Every canvas has constraints. Jesus came that we may have life, and have it to the full! We were created to worship and obey our Creator. This does not limit our freedom, it unleashes it!
9/28 The Beauty of the Cross Great art reminds us that in the midst of tragedy there is always beauty. Jesus’ life was a masterpiece of light and vivid color which contrasted the harsh background of hate, betrayal and suffering of the world. Through his sacrifice he turned the cross, a barbaric instrument of death, in to a symbol of beauty and hope.
10/5 The Beauty of the Church The church is a collective of creators and co-creators working together to paint a picture of God’s kingdom. God uses each of our gifts and talents to create a work infinitely greater than the sum of its parts.
10/12 Dream. Risk. Create. Every human being is a work of art and an artist at work. If we understood this our world would never be the same again.
