We desire to be formed into way of Jesus.

ValuesFormation

We desire to be a people formed by God—not conformed to the patterns of this world, but transformed into the image of His Son. This formation takes root as we live our faith in community: growing in truth, sharing our lives, and walking in the way of Jesus for the renewal of our city.

Formation is the lifelong process of receiving and responding to God’s love. For this reason, we seek to embrace the teachings of Jesus, embody the rhythms of Jesus, and live within the community of Jesus—all through the power of the Spirit who makes us new.

Prayer

When we consider Jesus’ life and ministry, we see a man whose power, teaching, and vision flowed from a deep life of prayer. And he invited his disciples into that same life of prayer. Before ascending to the right hand of the Father, Jesus called the church to wait and pray. As a result, prayer became one of the defining marks of the early church (Acts 2:42-47). The Apostle Paul carried this vision forward, urging the church to pray continually. He called believers to pray for one another, for leaders, and the spread of the gospel (Ephesians 6:18-20; Colossians 4:2; 1 Timothy 2:1).

As we examine church history, we see that the church has often been at its best when it has turned to God in humble, passionate prayer. We want to follow Jesus in this way. We want to pray. More than that, we’re asking God to awaken a fresh hunger for prayer in our hearts, in our church, and in our city.

Scripture

We are all being formed. This isn’t just a religious thing—it’s a reality of being human. Each day, we are shaped by what we give our time, energy, and attention to. The question isn’t whether we’re being formed, but by whom and into what.

At Gateway, we desire to be formed by the personal presence of Jesus, shaped more and more into people of love. One of the primary ways we open ourselves to that formation is through reading Scripture. In the pages of the Bible, we encounter the story of God, the truth about ourselves, and the invitation to live in step with Christ.

That’s why we invite you to join us as we read Scripture together. Here are a few ways you can take part:
