Renewal Partners

At The Gateway Church we desire to be a church marked by the radical love and generosity of Jesus. We believe we are called to love our poor and marginalized neighbors, and to seek renewal for our city until there is no needy person among us. The following qualities are what The Gateway Church looks for in a Mission Partner:

  • Christ-focused Gospel-sharing

  • Sustainability

  • Justice-minded

  • Relationship-building between The Gateway Church and the organization

  • Joppa

A local non-profit in Des Moines on a mission to create communities of unconditional love, support and hope for the homeless as we work together to prevent and ultimately end homelessness.

Rather than relying on government funding or creating redundant services, Joppa collaborates with other agencies, helps people access resources, and develops unique programs that fill gaps and meet unmet needs in outreach, housing and education.

Join The Gateway Church every 3rd Sunday of the month to serve the local homeless and spread the love of Christ.

  • Rise Up Tutoring

Rise Up is a local program established through Table Church looking for additional volunteers. Currently, they are providing math and reading tutoring for 2nd & 3rd graders on Tuesdays from 3-5pm at the Table Church Ministry Center (855 17th St, Des Moines, IA 50314).

Not only is this a great opportunity for us to cultivate an ongoing relationship with Edmunds Elementary and our community, it is also a beautiful way for various churches in Des Moines to serve together.

  • International Justice Mission

International Justice Mission (IJM is a global organization with a plan to eliminate the slave trade everywhere.

Rescue Slaves: they find children and adults who are victims of violence, forced labor, or sex trafficking. IJM then supports local police in rescue operations and helps meet the victims’ urgent needs, like safe housing, food, medical care, counseling, and education.

They work with police to investigate, arrest and charge slave owners with crimes. They work to make sure laws against slavery are enforced, making it legally and financially impossible for slave owners to stay in business.
